I have found them to work very well. No matter how much I've shot it gets them clean

HomelessjOe , I like the sound of your paper towel technique, I think I'll give it a try. Also,
I can definitely see the advantages of a bore snake on a rifle where there is little access to the back of the barrel.

I never use any solvent that will attack lead. Every set of barrels I've seen wit loose ribs was coming apart at the muzzle and the lead/tin solder was deteriorated. I just use a thin oil and brush and patches.

I have found that bore snakes do in fact do a pretty good job, especially if used while the bores are still warm. I generally use a CLP of some type on them, usually Breakfree. However, later using a bristle brush, patches and more cleaner of some type I find that there is still more residue that comes out.

You sure spend a lot of quality time thinking about my underwear, Grandpa cheap prick.

Have you seen a doctor about this?

I use a Tico Tool from Outers to do most of my initial cleaning. Works great, I guess similar to a Bore Snake, prior to leaving the field or range. Every so often my guns all get a detailed cleaning with bronze brushes, blue O'Rielly Auto paper shop towels and Breakfree CLP. Kinda gotten away from Frog Lube as I found it a little stiff initially in cooler weather.
