Hi all, I saw a JP Sauer with Joseph Springer, Los Angeles along the top rib. Was he an importer?

I was in a store of that name in Vienna. Perhaps a family member is importing to Los Angeles.

springer was in business pre ww1 i dont know when he retired or the shop closed.mike petrov mentioned him.

mc, a store with his name on it---a top-end establishment---was on a main street in the centre of Vienna 25 years ago.

Still in business as "Joh. Springers Erben" (Johann Springer's Heirs) http://www.springer-vienna.com/. They run a prominent auction site, among other things.

Look again, I think you will find that to be "Singer" not "Springer", well known Los Angeles gunsmith and a lot on him on the Web. I have a Mauser with his name on it in 30-06.

 Jos. Singer Los Angeles  Made in Germany - J.P. Sauer & Son   Experienced proof @ Z-M Proof facility in 1922. Some odd marks intertwined HS/SH(V. Halska & Cie. Liege????) and possible EW. I do not see any Sauer process marks so it would appear it was sourced from the Z-M mechanics. Kind Regards, Raimey rse
