Gunter Pfrommer refreshed the wood, He sent the metal parts to Clarks in Conn. for coloring.

So true but that's how lighting and a little photo shopping can create an illusion. That is also why Buzz couldn't see the branches on the tree. They are there but the darker tones masked them. I could make the restored gun look brighter by angling it up a bit to reflect more of the light.
Moral--photos on the net can be misleading. Second moral--absolutes are sometimes not so absolute--as in life it's self.

....Moral--photos on the net can be misleading. So true, but back to the first set of pictures, the basic pattern and distribution of the colors 'photo shopped' well. It probably wouldn't be described as British appearing case colors. I think the second set of pictures are more misleading, looks like the butt stock of gun two was refinished. Thanks for showing them.

Number 2 has its original 1936 factory finish. Isn't 1936 pretty late for cocking indicators? I've got a 28-gauge you lettered to 1935, 459536, that doesn't have indicators.

My mistake, it is a 1930 gun and have the invoice. This gun was the subject of a DGJ article a year or so past.

So Walt what do you believe is the retail value of these two very nice American Classics, one nicely restored and one "original "? I have collected mostly English guns and far less emphasis is given to original condition in that world.

I didn't join in the speculation, but I thought the trigger on number two showed that the gold had been there for a long time. The trigger n number one looked like a new polish.
