Is it possible to tell whether a back action sidelock (Joseph Lang) has intercepting sears without disassembling the gun? Each lock on this gun has 11 pins and screws. The gun was made between 1905 and 1910.

Thanks a lot for the 2 posts you told me to look at. The first response to the first post you suggested I look at was a photo expo given by a member whose code name is Small Bore. He provided about 25 pictures of various locks. His 18th picture was of a Joseph Lang back action lock. After reviewing the picture, the pin and screw pattern looks almost identical to my gun. I have one extra pin that supports the mainspring. Could you please take a look at this 18th picture from Small Bore and see if you can determine if it has an intercepting sear. I am not familiar enough with these locks to know where to look for the 2nd sear. I hope you can help me determine whether it has an intercepting sear or not. If you can't tell, can you recommend someone who could look at this picture and make this determination? You've been a great help trying to resolve this issue--I really appreciate it. Thanks.

The picture of the Lang you say is the same as yours does have an interceptor sear and, given the same maker and distribution of pins, it means you probably do have the same beast.
However, it is not unknown for the int. sear to be disabled by a previous owner or even removed and a simple spacer shaft put back in its place. There is also no guarantee that it is functioning correctly anyway.
Much the best solution is to remove the lock and find out what you have inside and then get someone KNOWLEDGEABLE to test it.
If you are not confident to do the removal yourself, find someone with experience and ability to do it for you.

That is really just a peg that protrudes from the mainspring itself, at the fold, through a hole in the lock plate to keep it in place, if I am not mistaken.
