The roll pin holds the roll joint in place.

The screw oN the later Hammerless guns allowed the pin to be removed without the use of special tools per say. The pin is two pieces. Or really just a pin with the threaded cap on one side.

Thanks. I removed one in my 1904 Parker 16 ga., 2-GH. I used a wooden dowel and a hammer to tap it out, with minimal resistance.
I am having trouble replacing it. I can see no obstructions on either surface, but it won't just tap in. I am leary of applying too much pressure. Any ideas? Thanks

It will go in.
If the roll joint has shifted at all, that can cause a hang up. But other than that, it will go right back in.

Now, there should be a small witness mark on both the pin and the frame so that the pin goes back in the right spot in order for the screw slot to point the right way when all back together.
The mark is on the threaded end of the pin at the top side.

OK, thanks. I'll try it again, checking to see if the roll joint has shifted, obstructing the insertion of the roll pin.

Thanks again,
Andy Terry
