Nothing as nice as what's been posted so far but this promises to be an interesting project for me. I found two of these Greener Martini actions at a recent gun show. I have ordered a tapered octagon, 12 bore, rifled barrel with a 1 in 88 twist to make a single shot 12 bore round ball rifle.

Somewhere, a deer is going to have a a really bad day. That sure sounds like an interesting and creative project. I hope you keep us updated with the progress.

I will. I drew a cow moose tag this year. I'd love to have it done for that but don't know if I can bring it all together in time.

I'll also be shooting some conicals. Accurate Molds has a couple of great looking 12 bore bullet designs in the 850 grain range.

I plan to load in the Magtech brass cases for this rifle. Just seems fitting to use a brass case with this style of rifle.

Beautiful, and with the octagon-topped receiver and the "shotgun" butt, you could barrel it for a BIG bopper. I wouldn't, but you could...

Not in the same game as the rest of you, but this has been one of my projects this winter. All it needs now is a barrel polishing and rust blue which I will do in the next couple of weeks. It is a .45-70 and will be in Alaska chasing moose this September.

If I get courageous, I might take my first attempt at checkering too.

Very nice High Wall stock Bob. I particularly enjoy the comb fluting, the contouring behind the grip and the height of the comb at the heel.
Do you know what that pistol grip looks like when rounded on at the edges like early rifles? I have an original Deluxe stock that taught me a lot.

That rifle looks like it might just be headed to the long range lines. Is that the plan?

Just curious, but how much LOP do you have on that rifle. I'm guessing a bunch.

I'm still working on the pistol grip. The rifle has been in my vise for a week or more and when I walk by, I look at it and then make a change or two. All I've got to go by is a picture taken from GB and Campbell's book. Some how, I think it should have a little higher dome.
I did this one for myself about 5 years ago. It's in .22 LR and I use it for offhand practice and some .22 silhouette matches.

The new project has the Helm triggers I swapped you for. I really don't need another LR rifle but was thinking a fast twist GM barrel in 4 wt. but none are available. Length of pull is 14".

Bob, This isn't a sales pitch, but you could really benefit from my Custom Rifles In B&W book. There are numerous pics of my interpretation of the Winchester grip on 1885's from different angles. I try to replicate the grip on the original HW stock because it is near perfection to my eye. It has a pronounced dome. Did you add an ebony insert?

Your .22 is a beautiful rifle. The grip looks a might cramped front to back.
The first grip I shaped in this manner was in 1977 at Trinidad State working entirely from a 4" profile engraving of a Special Sporting Rifle in the 188? Winchester Highly Finished Arms Catalog reprint.
The project rifle was a 45-70 Falling Block Works that I built for my Dad. My brother now has it now and I'm glad none of you can see it. I did do a pretty fair with the grip profile.

My workshop associate Dan Kleber and I have just begun a Low Wall .22K Hornet in this Special Sporting Rifle style.
