Beautiful rifle. Is the .32 Winchester original to the rifle or an aftermarket modification? I've never seen one of these rifles in any caliber but the 6 mm Lee Navy.

Remington40X, They are different rifles, the Remington is a turnbolt and the Winchester is straight pull. Mike

There was one for sale at last weekend auction, I believe lot 1261. They came is 30-40, 7X57, 32-40, 32 win special, and a few others. They were not a successful gun mostly because very expensive to manufacture. Workmanship is excellent as you would expect for the turn to the 19th to 20th century. I believe there was a deluxe model which had a gripcap but I have never seen one. Not a lot but there is some info on the web including the manual from Remington. Google "Remington Lee 1899" Paul interesting your serial number and mine are very close. Is it also a sporting rifle? Would like to see pics if you can.

Thanks Gary. They come from a pivotal era of change in the guns used by Armies and hunters. Single shot to the turnbolt rifle.

Xausa, thanks for showing your Win-Lee.
Maybe we should extend this thread. I showed my Rem-Lee and xausa his Win-Lee. Excluding Krags and Springfield, not ridgidly but there have been lots of pics in the past, if you have a rifle from the era 1880 to 1910 or so, lets show them. Maybe also focus on the change over that was occurring...single shot to repeaters for pointy bullets.
