I recently had a L.C. A1 in the shop with an interesting accessory. Behind the top tang inletted into the wood is device with a rotating tab. One end is longer than the other so in one position it blocks the far rear position of the safety button. It appears to be nicely crafted and not something ground out scrap by some Bubba.

Any one have any knowledge or info about this thing?

Seems like an awfully complicated device to fix a simple problem.

It seems to me that whomever had this done might have forgotten in the past to push the safety to safe position when it was in the rear position and wanted something safer.

It also looks like they modified the old two piece top tang to do this.

I read it as a safety lockout.

For 'target' shooting.

it looks like and addition rather than a modification.it looks like it blocks the the safety to keep it from the bypass setting
