Ed, remember the US domino theory of Communists taking over world unless stopped in Vietnam, generals asking for more and more troops to end it, the body-count measure of success? The United States had the world's greatest panoply of military power, as it had in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the results were not satisfactory. Why does United States need NATO. It should be dissolved and our navy shouldn't have lions share of protecting international seaways either. I would leave entire Ukrainian fiasco to those useless, gutless members of EU.

Jager,
Have you read all the posts in this thread? We, and in that I mean Bill Clinton, are primarily responsible for this situation. If Ukraine still had a nuclear deterrent, I seriously doubt that this whole mess would have happened. Now, we have exposed not only Ukraine, but the rest of Europe (due to dependency on Russian energy) to Russian Hegemony. History is repeating itself. Pulling out of European security agreements was always a prominent subject of Soviet propaganda. It's no different now. Why do you think Russia is the major contributor to European anti-fracking groups?
I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.
