Well, Doc, it's like this. I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't focus my mind on my work, my wife can't understand why she has to repeat everything she says to me, she complains I talk in my sleep incessantly mumbling things like "How could I miss him TWICE?" ...... "I coulda swore I packed my shells." ..... "But officer, I KNOW I put my license in my wallet, somewhere." ...... "You count SIX teen?!!" ...... "There's a 100% probability of rain beginning at noon Saturday!" ...... "But your honor, it's jes a little turtle dove, WHAT!!!!? FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!?"

Doc says, "Son, if I knowed you to be a drinkin' man I'd purscribe a double toddy ever night 'til next Sattidy, but since you ain't, load three boxes of twenties ever night just before bedtime, sheffle yo' dove recipes an then reorganize them into the order you want to have them cooked, read an old duck hunter's tale, lay yo' fretful haid on a piller stuffed with dove breast feathers, and' get yo' wife to sleep in her scantiest neglige ever night 'til nex' Sattidy. You'll get through it, jes' keep chanting "15 for 25, 15 for 25, 15 for 25".

43 DAYS AND A WAKE-UP!!!!!

You have the fever bad Stan but look at the bright side----> I have to wait till October with my new to me Fox and PHEASANTS. Meanwhile I'll give those doves an extra shovel full of grain before I send them down to you boys in the South.

Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.

Stan, I wish you'd dream of a cloudy, cool opening day, and your dream came true. All in all, a hot, steamy opening day (the norm) is better than no opening day. Our field is covered up as well with graveling birds and the sunflowers haven't dropped seeds. Gil

There is time for all those birds to raise one more nesting. So that hundred may be two hundred on a wire by then. Hope they use strong wire where you live. Have a great opening day and may you have many more to come.

For me it will be my "new" 30" Verona .410 O/U. I expect to shoot it a bit better than I have been shooting the little 4# + .410 S x S. I shot a 43/50 with it on a subgauge course a couple weeks ago, so hopes are high.

You're killing me, Stan!!! I've been seeing more and more birds lately and I'm starting to get excited. I love quail hunting but a good dove shoot over harvested peanuts is a close second!!!

Here are a few old pics from seasons past just for the sake of reminiscing.

How 'bout a joke to help pass the next 41 days ?

Since we're talking about migratory birds ........ While on a dove shoot this fellow killed a crow which flew over his stand. It had a band on it's leg. It said "Wash. Biol. Surv."

A week later a letter was received which read ....... Dear Sirs, I killed a bird with your band on it. I think it was a crow. I cooked it according to your directions, and let me tell you, IT WAS AWFUL !!!

Return address on the letter was Alabama. laugh
