I'm a gun maker/gunsmith, it was a project of a customer.

All the suggestions have avoided the main point that FWP has been stuffed up by some unscrupulous seller and that he should be either getting his money back or that the seller forks out for repair .
To which it needs the bottom rib removing and a new rib fitted , effectively a strip and relay and re black .
Any thing else is a bodge job that will devalue the gun .

The buyer made no points of being stuffed by the seller, that's an assumption on your part. For all we know he bought it knowing of the issue.

I have no connection with this though, so it can go either way.

The wording of the post suggested other wise on a first reading and that was my assumption . If I had mis read the post so be it . It still needs new bottom rib so it is a strip and relay and re black .

Point is that a proper repair is no minor undertaking. To do it right you are going to be spending big bucks. Not to bad if you bought right but if you did not allow for the repair cost and paid full price you just bought a money pit. Half of buying guns needing repairs, especially repairs that go out, is figuring the cost into the sale price. Buy a two grand gun for one grand and this type of repair is tolerable, pay seventeen hundred and you are screwed. All sellers sing it is only a minor problem. Remember every Cancer started out as a single cell problem.
