I have an odd question.
I've seen old doubles marked with various names that were sold by Sears Roebuck.
Is there a vintage double sold by them that actually says the words Sears Roebuck and Co. on it?

Yeah, I don't ever remember seeing one of the really old ones that said Sears. Seems like some of the later ones made by other companies did though, but I can't remember for certain.

Sears-retailed guns were marked J.C. Higgins into the 50s I think. A.J. Aubrey before that. One or both of those guys was the head of Sear sporting goods. Not sure if the later AYA and Savage guns had Sears on them. You could probably find examples on the Web. If memory serves the Winchester-made pump guns and autoloaders had Ted Williams' name on them. I know he was in their advertising.

Get a copy of the Double Gun Journal Spring 2010 for the full story about Sears and their Meriden Firearms Co. AJ Aubrey ran that subsidiary for about 5 years.

I have one of the AyA guns that does say Sears and Roebuck. It is sort of a double trigger Matador. It is my favorite modern "go to" double, that I don't have to worry about what shells go in it, or what the weather is like. I think all of the Stevens and Hunter Fulton were marked Ranger. These are the only post WWII doubles I can think of that Sears sold? I re-read your question and saw that I missed the word "vintage". The only ones I know of are the Meriden/Aubrey guns, and the L.C. Smith made Gladiator hammerguns, none of which said Sears on them.

Sears-marketed guns had a general name change in the 1940s. It was Ranger before WWII, and then became J.C. Higgins (and Ted Williams) after.

As far as I know, those AyAs were the only ones marked Sears as well as J.C. Higgins. Never saw a "Ranger" also marked Sears.
