My guess is churches have one declarative, don't-argue-with-me, no hands-up-in-the-pew prescription for regulars and another for those who can argue convincingly as theologians do. Infallibility would seem an easy one.

Which circles back to your morality and the right or freedom to choose mentioned in Prager's article. I can't imagine any church putting us below the salt because of doubt or disbelief in some aspects of faith.

So then King, is this your answer to my question... directed to the general Misfires audience, and not to me because you must persist in the other lie that you will not speak directly to me because I put words in your lying mouth?

If this is your answer to explain your lie, it is beyond weak. It is dishonest and pathetic. I asked the simple question: "How did your father convert to Catholicism as an adult without belief in the Ressurection?", as you asserted here in the "A Puritan Metaphor" thread.

I never expected a straight answer from a lying fraud, but I'll continue to pose the question since you put the lie out there. And what... not a word about my comments on your very lame defense of your largely inflated resume? Better to dance around that and hope it all quickly fades from memory, eh?

I've got news for you King. Belief in the Ressurection for Catholics, or any Christians, is not a matter of "dogma" or theological interpretation. It is THE basic precept for Christianity. It is the ne plus ultra, the pinnacle, the one and only reason that there is a Catholic, or any other Christian church.

Various Protestants may differ with Catholics and the Vatican on matters of Papal Infallibility or Virgin birth or other dogma, but they all still require acceptance that Christ was God made man who, among other things, died for our sins and was Ressurected from the dead and ascended into heaven. No Christian theologians are questioning this. Christians of any flavor do not worship a man. They worship a deity who is a part of the Trinity who became a man for a short time. Non-belief in the Ressurection would not have a church putting an applicant "below the salt" because of disbelief in the Ressurection. But it would mean that the potential convert would not be baptized. Period.

So, there aren't that many possible answers to my repeated question. Either you lied, or you are telling us that your father lied.

Which is it?

The phrase is brilliant.

The only question is: Will Americans awaken to the increasingly rapid deprivation of their freedoms -- not draped in an American flag but draped in tolerance and health?

So which is it King... did you lie or are you going to throw your father under the bus and claim that he lied about his conversion to Catholicism? You already claimed credit for civil rights work that he did near Antigonish, so what the hell, eh?

This is just the kind of bullshit that's IMO going to foment a rebellion in the United States.

Christian bakery closes after LGBT threats, protests
Fox News, by Todd Starnes
Sweet Cakes By Melissa posted a message on its Facebook page alerting customers that their Gresham, Ore. retail store would be shut down after months of harassment from pro-gay marriage forces.

“Better is a poor man who walks in integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways,” read a posting from Proverbs on the bakery’s Facebook page.

A lesbian couple filed a discrimination complaint with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries and told their story to local newspapers and television statements. Within days, militant homosexual groups launched protests and boycotts. The LGBT protestors then turned on other wedding vendors around the community. They threatened to boycott any florists, wedding planners or other vendors that did business with Sweet Cakes By Melissa.

To make matters worse, the Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries announced last month they had launched a formal discrimination investigation against the Christian family. But the state is willing to rehabilitate and reeducate Christian business owners.

Denver baker Jack Phillips is facing possible jail time for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding. In Indianapolis, a family-owned cookie shop faced a discrimination investigation after they refused to make rainbow cookies for National Coming Out Day. A T-shirt company in Lexington, Ky. found itself at the center of a Human Rights Commission investigation after they refused to make T-shirts for a local gay rights organization.

The plight of the Klein family exposes the true nature of the left. Those who preach tolerance and diversity are the least tolerant and the least diverse of all.

As I stated elsewhere I wonder what would happen today if the current owners of my former video production company refused to make or copy pornography on moral grounds as I once did.

Hey Keith
Since we all know there's no way King is ever going to answer this I'll take a shot at it.
My wife just informed me that a girlfriend of hers just had her Catholic marriage annulled. I thought this strange since she'd been "married" over 20 years and her and her now "non-husband" had 4 kids so there certainly wasn't a "consummation" issue. eek Upon further questioning; I was told that the woman's mother had paid the church a considerable amount of money to get the annulment approved and finalized. As a former Catholic I though this type of bribery had been banned centuries ago.
My theory is that Kings father did the same and the Catholic church was able to "overlook" his heretical beliefs and go ahead and admit him as a member.
Anyway that probably the ONLY explanation you're going to get! grin

That's the gist of it, Jim. The Church isn't monolithic; there are as many schisms and arbitrations as in any big organizations, political parties etc. Some "progressive" notions some consider heretical become legitimate. The Church in our university community, known as Little Rome for its international reputation in adult education and community development, accepted and baptized my father with beliefs outside the mainstream. As you say, it's done all the time. There was nothing as illegal or dishonest about it as bribery. I was his caregiver with power of attorney. The Church may have thought his membership an embellishment. I did.

I think the 'Church' is monolithic, people are not. To each his own, but I think it's part of progressive decay. Anything goes as long as it feels good might not be the best moral compass, unless we anoint someone to draw the red line.

Oldtimers also think a lot of the boomers' ethos as decay, Craig. A rapidly changing world is hard for a lot of us to hoist aboard. What surprised me about a member's silly pestering, knowing there would be no response, is that nothing was learned from why the Clintons survived such egregious behaviour. Some critics kept at it so obsessively that publics just got sick of it.

Burger King is correct.

The crime, perversion and corruption of the Clinton presidency was good for America. Now any future President can lie on a daily basis and get BJs in the Oval Office without recrimination.

And progressively, the malevolence, tyranny and gross incompetence of the Obama Regime will truly set us free. Who needs Congress when you've got executive orders and a judiciary staffed with Libtards!

Hell, we could become Canada soon!

Jim and Burger King, I reiterate, no adult convert gets baptized in the Catholic church without belief in the ressurection. First off, what would be the point of even wanting to join the Catholic or any other Christian church if you did not believe Christ was part of the Trinity of God?

This takes us back to another of King's many many lies: the wild story of the 3 priests, 2 Canadian and 1 from Massachusetts, who supposedly comforted King with the notion that they did not believe in it (the ressurection) either. As I remarked to the liar from Nova Scotia at the time, it seemed to me those 3 priest certainly chose the wrong career path. I asked King for their names so I could write to them to verify his wild assed story. Nothing.

How will you give King cover for that lie Jim? Will you continue to give him cover for all of the lies he tells us, because I am going to keep right on confronting him for each one.

And I am going right back to ask King how his father converted to Catholicism as an adult without belief in the Ressurection. I am going to continue to give my opinion about King's dishonesty and much inflated resume which he uses to lend credence to his Leftist Liberal statements. I certainly recall one of the Keddedy's using money to influence approval of an annulment. I don't believe Bill Gates has enough money to buy a Catholic baptism for an athiest. King couldn't think of a new lie to cover that lie, and he's breathing easier because you gave him cover. But your possible explanation just doesn't cut it in this case.

The "heretical" notion that King the liar is saying was accepted in his father's case is not something simply a bit outside the mainstream, or a "progressive notion" that may become legitimate. Acceptance of this notion is acknowledgement that the Catholic Church is built upon a foundation of falsehood... just like King. I especially liked his line, "Ther was nothing illegal or dishonest about it as bribery." This is typical of King. He has publicly defended dishonest behavior here before and accepts it as normal.

And of course, this all brings us to another huge whopper "Burger King" told us way back during the Newtown aftermath when he claimed he would no longer respond directly to me because I put words in his lying mouth. I did a quote of his exact words to prove that was a lie. Several months later, he changed the story to say he would not respond to me because of my rude behavior. As I said then, and am saying now... dishonesty isn't civility.

If you are going to provide cover for King's lies Jim, you are going to be a busy guy. Can you give me the names of those 3 priests who also do not believe in the Ressurection, or will I have to keep asking King the liar? Can you tell us if King lied and took credit for Civil Rights work his father did? Can you tell us if he really took Jackie Kennedy to lunches? I'm wondering why she picked Aristotle Onassis later in life when she could have had the Great King Brown-eyes. His eyes must be brown because he's so full of it.
