Most interesting that V-C(Verney - Carron of St. Etienne) sourced L-C for this pigeon gun. Must have been for a French pigeon shooter. Wonder where the brother migrated?

So Lebeau-Courally one of the premier makers of shotguns in the world is being "sourced" by a French firm to build their gun for them. Interesting lineage. I wonder how rare that was or common?

I would say that some would like to think it is rare, but I think more common that rare for the upper rung client orders, specifically for money guns like pigeon shooters. The Belgians had the market cornered for price and product quality. Now we know who performed the tap-tap-tap, Leukers, so it appears Société Verney-Carron frères(Loire) did little more than place the order and pay the bill.

How much information is locked away in these gun firm’s workbooks that no one has access to except a few privileged individuals? But, although tedious, on every gun there has to be a stamp somewhere.
Beautiful gun Ten, but, with that name on it, you already knew that!!!

Gunwolf, good find but I think Raimey was referring to the French firm Société Verney-Carron frères(Loire) exclusively and I was referring to how many more European makers ‘Sourced’ their guns to through Lebeau Courally? Excellent thread though.

I'm sure the world over sourced L-C. Interesting that the boxlock Gunwolf posted too was what looks to be a boxlock pigeon gun made between 1897 & 1924. It would seem that pigeon guns were outside of V-C's production modells and that may account for the sourcing of Liege. Another note is that V-C didn't even bother to have their named attached to a L-C sourced pigeon gun. Seems that circa WWI if a client desired a pigeon gun, most went to the Liege pigeon gun well.
Kind Regards,

I believe the Olympics were in 1924. In those games the Italian shooting team shot fine doubles made by F Thirifays of Belgium.

1907 Monte Carlo Taubenschiessen Rules I'm sure the same applied about at every event. Interesting to see that the 16 bore & 10 bore were allowed. I wonder if the one in Monaco is still active. Kind Regards, Raimey rse
