Hello all,

I have run across a drilling that has me stumped to say the least, any information on this gun will be greatly appreciated.
Across the top it has (W.Konig, liegnizt)
under barrels listed is (Witten and the initials RS) it is a 16, 9.3x72

Let's assume it experience proof pre-1910. You have one of the best mechanic's effort on the tubeset as well as the most expensive tube steels that was offered. Sounds like a quality to me.

Here's some lifted/translated info:

Waffenhändler Wilhelm König, Liegnitz

In 1905, the Burgstrasse 62 on the ground floor is the E.B. König, Wilhelm, Büchsenmacher, Waffen = und Munitionslager. In 1914, the street is Burgstrasse 62 E.B. König as Buchsenmachermstr. In 1921, at 1 (same address) B. König and E. König. In 1930, the owner of the building is Wilhelm König, Rentner and under no one there A. Künig. In 1939, there Bes. Konig'sche Erb. Eu 1 König Marg. , Buchsenmacherei. When it comes to Bartsch, in 1878 he is listed at the same address (Adolph Bartsch, Burgstrasse 62) as Gewehrfabrikant. It seems that König took over the business after Bartsch.

Kind Regards,

It appears that this is a rather common drilling configuration. The shotgun barrels are 16 gauge, and the rifle barrel is 9.3 x 72, a commonn rifle cartridge for pre WW II drillings. Ammo is still avaialble from various sources, such as The Drilling Hotline: http://www.drillinghotline.com/index.shtml

FIRST Leverguns WELCOME to the site smile
Second, what stumps you?
Maybe I can be of assistance
Photos of the breech ends of the barrels and action flat
would help us help to determine age and origin.
Is it a hammergun or hammerless?
Again Welcome
Mike

Info & article by Pitor

Carl STUSCHE in NEISSE (NYSA)
Paul MOSSIERS inh. G.GABRIEL in BRESLAU (WROCŁAW)
STEINER & Co. in GLOGAU (GŁOGÓW)
W. KÖNIG in LIEGNITZ (LEGNICA)(Waffen König)
K. ZIEGLER in GORLITZ (ZGORZELEC)
W. GÜTTLER in REICHENSTEIN (ZŁOTY STOK) - ammunition with gunpowder "Plastomenit"

http://www.scribd.com/doc/100122245/Znak...zyskanychdo1945

Seems W. König in Liegnitz/Legnica followed the footsteps of his predecessor and had ammo manufactured with his name on the headstamp.

Kind Regards,
