What are these barrel marks on this Lefever G? Looks like a crown over GL.

BUT Gaspar Lejeune of Fort was a member of the Syndicat des Fabricants de Canons de Fusil de la Vesdre

I find it incredible that the raw tubes left Belgium so close dimensionally to the finished state that even after Lefever struck them the fabricators marks are still visible!

Lefever push opener c. 1885-1887 possibly C grade with Banc D'Epreuves de Liege provisional proof mark

Craig Havener's, which Raimey diagnosed; Charles Clement & Neumann Freres registered the mark in 1903: two crossed hammers with the inscription "Hammered Fluid Steel" and the letters "CJCJ" in the angles of the hammers.

Drew, did I take the blame on that one or was it Marc's discovery? I would like someone to own up to JHJR though.

Kind Regards,

Drew, I have a thumb push opener Lefever hammerless of B Quality. It has those same provisional proof marks on top of the barrels like you show. Oddly, there are no marks on the underside where we normally see them. I wonder if any other makers displayed those marks on top of the barrels.

From a much earlier time, but this is the JHJR stamp on a Johann Leonhart Dotter example:
