Like I said, that's Powell's No. 1 Patent Action.

Those aren't nipple holes, either. They have to do with how the lifting toplever works.

Bar in wood means nothing.

Try Googling it a bit next time. It's amazing what you can learn with 5 minutes of effort.

If I remeber correctly, that very gun or one just like it may have been featured in the Double Gun Journal sometime around spring of 1995/96. It was a string of articles about British guns from A to Z. Of course, this was featured with the P's. About 5 of them if I remember correctly. Purdey, Powell, and 3 others. My memory is good but not that good.

It was spring of 1998. The guns featured were Purdey, Powell, Pape, Paton & S.M.Patrick. The powell featured was just like the one here but not as nice.

OWD,
I'm searching for all info on Powell's No.1 patent guns/rifles. Can you share your serial number and Powell'sPatent number?

But admit it, it looks right like a conversion. Of course, if you look closer, and reason a bit, it's clear that the things that look like former nipple holes are in fact housings for the opening lever pin. But they do look like nipple holes, especially with these curved fences about them! Nice gun, anyway. And the firing pins as 'loaded' indicators... how cute! smile

Not much in the way of eye candy, but that's the best I've got.
