Mike
I guess the original type would have been Purdey , they could prolly sell you one smile
I guess you could contact them to see what material/diameter/thread was used on your gun? ...I'd love to know what they would charge for that little item ?....$750+?...If you contact them, let us know the price, would you?
How about a nice red Raybar???
I'm sure some one makes, or could make a good looking replacement once you know what your after.
What kind model & age ?
good luck

Many gunmakers used odd sized threads .some used bicycle threads others use what we called sewing machine threads ,there were a lot of different one to choose from .
When all else fails you can usualy tap out to a close BA size in this instance I would guess at 7BA which is if memory serves is 2.5x .75 mm equivolent . Beads have been made of various material nickle silver ,white brass, brass, most Purdey beads are small so this is less important than shape and size .

Mike,
Gunman is correct about the screw threads, they are most likely to be a BA (British Association) size. Most of the British Gunmakers used them, Charts of most of the British threads are available on the www including the tapping drill sizes.

B.A. Taps and Dies are commonly available here in Britain and most Model Engineering supply companies stock them. In the USA they would very likely be a custom made product, (expensive). You can also buy them off Ebay in you type in the correct search, and are prepared to wait until they come up for sale.

OK what the story is I just got the gun and someone has installed a Bradly ivory front bead. I went to Midway USA web site and they offer some silver front beads but the thread does not match up with the Bradley's.
I want a small bead for this gun not a large front bead.
Any recomendations?

Call Kirk Merrington. He's worked on more Purdey barrels than anyone in the US.

He can make it right.
