4. Very good gun but I don't like two features on mine: hammer spurrs are too far apart for quick one hand cocking, and the gun cannot be opened with hammers cocked;
That's odd. All of mine could be opened with the hammers cocked. Adam Here are my old Bernadellis. 20ga Brescia 26" bbls 12 Brescia 28" bbls 12 Italia 30" bbls

I had a 20 ga Bernardelli Italia for years and was delighted with it. It was deadly on grouse, dove and stupid pheasants. (Sometimes the smart ones got away.) T'was my favorite hammer gun ever. Don't fret too much, I am taking good care of it They are good guns.
Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.

I had a chance to buy an unusual hammer Bernie several years back. 20ga, set up as a live bird gun. High stock, forend had a bit of a schnabel to it. Have never seen any others like it. Probably ought to ask John Boyd about it. Ended up selling it for a now-deceased friend. Jim was not a particularly fast gun handler, yet he took a ruffed grouse with that gun. Among the photos at his funeral was one I took of him with that Bernie hammergun and his grouse.

Thanks to all for the comments. What do ya'll think is a fair price? I realize more pictures and a better description is needed. The bores are good an it's tight - mechanically it's sound. I do not have any more pictures right now. I generally get fair prices, but this one makes me pause a little, so what do ya'll think?
Thanks.
Sincerely, Patrick

Hi Pat, just a wild guess here, I maybe off a bit or a lot. Seeing how it's a small bore, the prices a few years ago were around $1700 for a 12ga, (I paid about that for mine from a member here on this board) and given that they are getting hard to find. I would say in the 2k range would be a good deal.
Just a guess mind you.
Best!

Mine is 12g Italia, 29.5" barrels and you cannot open the action when the hammers are back. The top lever hits the right hammer.
This is my go to hammer gun. I love it and it is deadly on birds and clays. I have not seen nice wood on one ever. All straight grain.
I think the Italia is in the $2000 range but the Brescia should go for less. Not sure what it is worth in 20 gauge.
So many guns, so little time!

One in similar condition as the one you posted just sold on Gunbroker for $1465. It was a Brescia model in 20ga also.
I bought a Italia (the higher grade) with 30" bbls and a leather case for $2000.

Here is a short barrel Italia 20G with open chokes that I offered for sale quite a while back. $1750 plus shipping to FFL. If anyone buys it $10 to Dave Bob Jurewicz
