I was very sad this morning to see the post concerning the recent passing of our friend on this bbs (and valued member of other boards also) J. D. Steele (Harz) of Clinton, MS. Joe and I had been corresponding back and forth and finishing up the final details of a Martini project he was going to complete for me. I had been waiting on a reamer and guage set he was going to use to rechamber my barrel, plus do other conversion work on the action to center fire, and also waiting on my wood to be finish turned to a sharp looking pattern he suggested for me. The reamer set and the wood are back, the project is ready to proceed now. My most recent emails have gone unanswered.

I would appreciate suggestions for other experienced Martini gunsmiths other members here may have used with satisfaction in the past.

Joe was a valuable member here, his suggestions and comments were always timely and appropriate. I know many will miss him.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Sorry to hear about his passing- I have a Martini 12-15 .22 Match Target rifle- and Brad Bachelder in Grand Rapids will be working his magic on it in 2013--He is very familiar with the Martini series rifles, and I am sure would be happy to discuss your project Martini after the Holidays have passed. He is in Grand Rapids, MI - 1-616-459-3636 Normal business hours are Tues-Fri 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, e-mail him at bachelderfirearm@aol.com. Brad and I have been friends for over 25 years, I recommend him without reservation to anyone seeking top shelf crafstmanship-
