I new to the form so i apologize in advance for lack of knowledge. I recently aquired an L.C Smith Hammered 10 gauge Damascus barrel shotgun serial number 135280 F Marked Hunter Arms Fulton NY on the barrel. Im not to familiar with it so i was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information. Im not sure of the grade ie field or NO. 00 i tried looking up the serial number but it gave me a range of dates it could be. Also when i bought it the fore stock was not attached to the gun. The piece that is mounted to the gun that the stock clips into was removed at one point then soldered in there. Im not sure who the mechanism keeps the stock on the gun. I will post a link at the bottom to the pictures i have taken so you can see the gun. I am also not sure where i could sell the gun or a price range of what it would be worth. I know this depends on condition but just an idea would help me. If more information is needed or the pictures dont work let me know so i can fix it thank you for your responses. The link for the pictures is: Just copy and paste it into your search bar. Thanks again.

From the LC Smith site and yours is a Quality F

The Smith hammer gun was available in either 10 or 12 gauge. The following were the Qualities offered in the 1884 catalog:

• Quality F – Best English stub twist barrels, American walnut stock, pistol grip, checkered and engraved, $55.

• Quality E – Good Damascus steel barrels, good American walnut stock, checkered and engraved, pistol grip, $70.

• Quality D – Fine Damascus steel barrels, good imported English walnut stock, nicely checkered and engraved, pistol grip, $95.

• Quality C – Fine Damascus steel barrels, fine imported English walnut stock, fine checkering and engraving, pistol grip, $125.

• Quality B – Extra fine Damascus steel barrels, finer imported English walnut stock, fine checkering and engraving, pistol grip, $150.

• Quality A – Very fine Damascus steel barrels, extra fine imported English walnut stock, extra fine checkering and engraving, pistol grip, $200.

fisherfishing64, your 10 ga. hammer gun dates to 1904. It is referred to as a 3 pin 1 screw back action lock with the "C" style or Type III hammers. The Grade F that yours is was a $20.00 gun in 1906 with Royal Steel barrels, $23.00 with Best English Stub Twist, and $25.00 with Good Damascus.
The 10 gauge hammer gun was discontinued in 1918 with 42 being made that year.

The list that skeettx supplied is for the Syracuse line of L.C. Smiths that were made from 1884-1888.

The trouble you have there is that the for-end lug is broken and it can be replaced. The original one is two piece, the top half is under the top rib and held by a screw (7-32thrds). It was soft soldered to keep in place for alignment of the for-end. In order to fix this without taking the top rib off is that a small hole is drilled in the top rib and into the new bottom piece that is tapped with a thread that is available like an 8-32 and then soft soldered.

I looked at your picture again, and you can see where the screw broke.
