I shoot those a lot, the 1 1/4 oz stuff should be fine in a big Fox
Just like shooting lead...probably better!

I shoot it out of my Nitro Special built in 1936, but only sparingly. Its hard stuff and I like the RST Nice shot in 2 ˝” better. As CJ said, it is really great stuff!! Both shells having better ballistics than the old lead shells.

Good stuff in a Super, OWD. JFYI, that's not a great price, on that link. Mack's has it for $30.99. I like the 3", 1 3/8 oz. loads for mine for big ducks or geese.

I have 3 HEs at present. I would use it in any of them but like Stan I prefer the 1 3/8 oz loads. Bismuth 2 3/4"- #4 -1 3/8oz are my favorites. This is as close as one can get with store bought ammo to the non toxic version of the load that made the HE famous. I see no point in carrying a 9 lb gun to launch relatively light payloads.

Cool. Thanks for the help.
Stan & 11F - are you shooting the 1 3/8 oz loads out of 3" Supers, or out of 2 3/4" Supers?
I always thought the 2 3/4" Sups were made to shoot 1 1/4oz loads.
Thanks again,
OWD

I used to shoot 1 1/4 oz TM loads out of a 16ga, although mostly not a vintage gun. Great stuff! Per the latest Kent catalog I have, now only available in 1 1/16 oz 5's for the 16. But if I wanted to shoot ducks with a 16, or had to use one where nontox is required for pheasants, that's what I'd shoot.

I use 3" loads in mine, OWD. It is, obviously, a 3" chambered gun. I have another 32", 3" chambered Fox, that is an A grade. It is not nearly as heavy a gun as the HE, though still not a lightweight, but I prefer 1 1/4 oz. loads in it, just because it "bucks" a little more than I like with the 1 3/8 oz. loads. I find that the lighter weight and the straight grip causes a little more loss of control of the gun during recoil, and causes a bit slower recovery for the second shot, if needed, thus the lighter payload.
In my opinion, part of the TM's ability to kill as well as it does stems from the velocity. That 1 1/4 oz. load is launching at 1400 fps., the 1 3/8 oz. at about 1325, as I recall. This is higher velocity than I ever used when I hunted ducks with lead. I recall the lead killing very well, as it still does in Argentina on ducks, but this stuff is very, very good. Just too darn expensive!! I use handloaded bismuth too, but I give the TM loads a little edge, especially on the "tall ones".

When waterfowl hunting I use TM from Kent 2 3/4" 1 1/4 oz, number 3 for my 12's and number 5 for my 16's.
If the birds don't fall, it's not the load's fault.
I also have Bismuth for 16 in 1 1/8 oz and for 12 in 1 3/8. I like the TM better.
I have also rationalized the cost by comparing what I spend on non toxic for waterfowl hunting with all my other gun and hunting related expenses. A drop in the bucket.

I've shot cases of this stuff through all kinds of vintage guns. Never had a problem and never had it fail me if I did my part.
