My manager just returned from Russia and left a gun magazine on my desk. Very diverse magazine. The inside cover was a fullpage Nikon scope ad, the facing page was a Lebeau-Courally sxs shotgun ad, the back inside cover was H&H. Scattered thruout were all the maker names we know here in the states. Articles ranged from cap and ball revolvers to archery, to vintage sxs shotguns and their breach designs, sporting rifles, black guns, moose hunting, women in the sport, etc., the full range of firearms what I noted. Every page on glossy color paper similar to a high end mag here.

Chuck H,
There are a number of excellent gun magazines published in Russia. You won't find much content related to handguns and very little on reloading. In addition to Master Gun (Мастер Ружьё) there is Hunting and Fishing in the 21st Century (Охота и Рыбалка XXI Век), Hunter's Courtyard (Охотничий Двор) and Basic Instinct (Основной Инстинкм) as well as many others.
Additionally, Moscow has two excellent gun shops - Кольчуга and Охотник and a superb shooting facility - Fox Lodge (Лисья Нора).

Please excuse the confusing text. The preview displayed the Cyrillic characters. Obviously, the submission didn't.

Interesting magazine, Chuck. I don't speak Russian but can manage Serbian which has a similar alphabet so I will try to put some light on a couple of bits (most of the text is too small for me to read). The name of the magazine is MasterArms and this is the current October issue. The complicated double featured in the article shown seems to be Austro-Hungarian in execution (Gustav Bittner, Weipert) but made under patent of an Italian, R.M. Basilone (US patent 806313 from 1905). The H&H advertisement is promoting their showroom (salon) in Moscow. Hopefuly Humpty Dumpty will check out my humble amateur effort, and also tell us something more about this nice publication.
With kind regards, Jani

http://www.google.com/patents/US806313?p...313&f=falseR.M. Basilone 1905 patent. I think that may have been a topic on Geno's favorite Medwed-Hunt.ru site. Or it seems that Marc also pointed me in a similar direction. http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...true#Post274955These images came from the site http://books.google.com/books?id=c_ZYAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA41&lpg=RA1-PA41&dq=R.M.+Basilone&source=bl&ots=HMFgbSKEbC&sig=1cxj9yrRC2RmEUVnG8wQ4kDOz5g&hl=en&sa=X&ei=B8KRUJD8G4y88wS6soCwDQ&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=R.M.%20Basilone&f=false\ R.M. It's layout is almost indistinguishable from American gun magazines. What chances of American ownership one way or another? Not that Russians aren't up to anything they apply themselves to but the way of the world these days.

Nice magazine. Interesting to see how varied one publication is. Its seems the ones here in the states are much more specific to their field.
