About eight months ago I was deciding between placing and order for a CSMC Fox 16/20 gauge or buying this Holland from John Foster. I spoke to him multiple times about it. At the time, it needed to be restocked and it appears that he had it restocked and now for sale. I could have got it for 17k plus the cost of the restock and importation. It is a 1930's gun. It sure looks good, what a beautiful piece of walnut! Did I make a mistake as I ordered the Fox about 8 months ago?

From the looks of it, no. Starting prices I've seen here are $25k with wood not as nice. But I'm a sucker for wood porn.

Lets for the sake of discussion say you would have had to pay $20K for this gun including the re-stocking and import fees. What would it cost to duplicate the gun today?

How are the bbls?

And do you have any idea what the serial # is on that gun?

I've never seen an H&H Royal marked that way on the bottom of the action. I wonder if that's one of the first self-openers H&H made?

And just buy the H&H too - problem solved.

OWD, The barrels were excellent having the original specs. It was a self opener, made in 1930 I believe.

#329XX - 1933 - 30" bbls - 15 3/8" LOP - 6# 12 oz. Looks like a very nice gun. Only ou can ever say you made a mistake. If you really want a Brit best SLE, this is a good one. But, "instead of - - -", only you know. This may be a lesson in the virtue of patience if you decide you did make a mistake. On the other hand, is this just "greener grass?"

Don, maybe you are right and I am just realizing that I am still waiting for my Fox and I could have had the H&H in my hands now. I keep pulling up pics of Fox's and looking at pictures of my wood that I ordered, not to mention that it is -20 degrees outside.
