I would like a starting nitro for black load for a bottle neck 500/450 3 1/4 BPE. It will be used in a Jones underlever E. M Reiley double with steel barrels.

Hi Joel.
Graeme Wright's book, "Shooting the British Double Rifle" has been spot on every time for me on other calibers. He says with a 350 jacketed bullet, 70 grns. Varget, shot pellet buffer for filler touched off with a federal 215 primer.1950 FPS.
I have a Hollis full Nitro 500/450 if you want my recipe... wink

As it turned out when the rifle arrived today I realized its a .500 3" BPE. It seems happy with a load I worked up for another double rifle many years ago.
