CBL makes some points, but the last pictures show a gun with a bunch of color. Yup, you have to measure the bores and wall thickness, but it looks good from this end.

Yep - not querying that. But the OP mentioned corrosion on the (exterior?) Damascus barrels earlier in the thread, and ultimately, the action can have a lot of excellent colour - but still have barrels which are problemmatic. Here's hoping to excellent bores, chambers, etc in general terms as it would be superb to see the gun in A1 condition.

I agree with both Eightbore and CBL. The gun looks good and of course its heavy as crap..... but measurements need to be taken. Looking for a good 'smith in Connecticut who has english or Scott experience to measure and disassemble the gun. Thanks for the comments and observations.

If you get as far as the Northeast Shoot, bring it along and I or someone else will measure the wall thickness. In the meantime, scrub the bores out with oil soaked fine emery cloth on a rod to eliminate surface rust. Try to avoid rounding off the sharp edges of the rim recesses of the chambers.

Thanks Bill I will bring that Parker 95432 along. Maybe we can trade? I was going to bring it over to Bob Foege's shop in Newtown and have it measured with a boremaster.

Back again now. Can't help much with the model. All the book does is describe it as the Jones Double grip action. Lagopus.....

The terminology "Jones double grip" refers to the fact that the opposite sides of the Jones bolt bite into two recesses in the barrel lug, providing a very secure purchase.
