Bill, after all the effort on the non original wood, what is the stock doctor going to do to improve it? It's pretty impressive as is.

One of the nicest original-condition Crown grades I've ever seen, and I've seen a few. Super. JR

Dear Abby,
I have a question that only you can answer. Let's say a male friend of mine has an unrequited love affair with a married woman. Let's just call her "Mrs. Smith"............

Waaay outta my reach, but sweet Elsies- The framed picture behind one of the gun photos- two grouse- Robert Abbett perhaps? I first saw his work in the 1977 Fall issue of the old Gray's Sporting Journal-- with a poem by a Don Titus- entitled "The Grouse Hunter"-- I don't think that is Abbett, Francis. This is his style, it hangs in our home. Shooting the High Field Very, very nice Crown Grades, billgrill. Thanks for posting them SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Shooting the High Field-- You are most likely right- Not a Chet Reneson(I have an artist's proof of his "Neighbor's Field" winter goose hunting scene, not a Peter Corbin-- Perhaps an Alden L. Ripley or a Odgen M. Pleisser- Whomever the artist may be, very nice indeed. Almost makes me want to be a NE grouser, instead of a Midwest waterfowler- almost!!! Very, very nice Crown Grades, billgrill. Thanks for posting them SRH

Artist name is Lee LaBlanc he resided in Iron River, Mi. at the end of his career. It is a artist proof no. 36 of 50. I bought it at a Ducks Unlimited banquet back in to 80's in Marquette, mi. Not sure about the case color process, I think maybe it's a secret. I would also like to thank everyone for their comments. Bill

Bill Thanks for the artist ID Bill- DU- 75 year Anniv. this year--In spite of the growing anti-gun and anti-hunting political climate in Washington DC and other areas of America with Liberal infestation, we can thank groups like DU, PF, NWTF and the NRA for their work and effective lobbying- without their voices and $ we would maybe end up like England and other European lands, where gun ownership and hunting and shooting is a past time available to only the wealthy and landed aristocracy.
