Hello, new here.
I would like information on this sxs. It reads; Enos Supreme Gun 2 3/4 case .012 Enos James & Co. London & Birmingham England. I have found very little info under the name Enos (Enoch) James. I would mainly like to know when it was manufactured.

I have a bit of information recording him at various addresses between 1877 and 1910. Do you have an address recorded on the top rib? Photos of gun would help a lot especially ones depicting the proof marks on the barrel flats. Lagopus.....

Enos James was a gun maker.

Enos / Enoch James & Co were established as gun, rifle and pistol makers in 1877 at 36-38 Staniforth Street, Birmingham.

In 1889 they took additional premises at 14 St Mary's Row which became their principal offices. From this time they described themselves as gun and gun implement makers.

They moved the offices back to 36-38 Staniforth Street in about 1895. In 1903 the firm moved to 32 1/2 Weaman Street. From about 1905 the firm appears to have been run by William and Enos James (sons?), it closed in 1910.

The dates above are in question. Some sources show the firm as being active until 1938. They also seemed to have had an address in London for a time at Stamforth St.

They produced at least 2 models of shotguns, the "Knickerbocker Club Gun" in at least 2 grades (1875-1890) and the "James Club Gun" (1875-1914). Both guns had several models in each grade.

In 1889 their guns were selling for $20-$49 in some catalogs here.

Enos James filed at least 2 patents in the USA.
