JDW, I have a 16 gauge, 1908, L.C. Smith Hammer Gun with Royal Steel barrels just like yours and it has taken more quail than one would imagine, in fact I killed my first quail with it in my very early teens.
I still use it every year, but mostly for Turkeys these days. Our wild Quail had all but disappeared.

Nice looking guns.

Here is my latest 16ga hammer gun. Now I need to fine some quail to go with it.

Rudy did you get that from Simpson's Collector Firearms? They just got in a whole boxcar load of guns similar to that.

Hi Mike,

Yes I did. They must have a boat load of them and they are still posting more each day.

This thing is a hoot to shoot. It has a 35" straight rifled barrel. When I first shot it, I thought I have a shell malfunction as there was almost no recoil or report. It was like shooting a .22 or something. Broke the clays just like it was supposed to.

I keep admiring them. They have 28ga, 24ga, 20ga, 16ga, and 12 gauge. Many with long barrels like yours. Thanks for posting that.

They are really well made. Good wood to metal fit and sound mechanics. A lot of fun for not much $$$

Add me to the growing list of hammergun shooters. Just a Liege guild gun but she makes me smile every time I pick her up. No wild quail in the Allegheny Mountains anymore but these little fellows keep me happy come fall.

My pics aren't quite as nice, but this is what I got to remember the day.
