The pattern looks the same as this one on my Husky, which I am told is two iron crolle, probably Belgian.
It is the most common one I see around, often refered to as fingerprint pattern by those that are unfamilier with Damascus.
My understanding of Boston damascus was it had a wider coarser pattern.

My 20k G grade,ca 1892/3 "Fish Hook" gun has bbls which look like Stallones, while my 29K G grade, ca 1899 "Large Hook" gun has bbls looking like Silver's.

On the Remington samples the Boston and Oxfords are similar, but the Boston pattern is sort of bigger and muddier.

The article on damascus published in the American rifleman is an English translation of "Le Damas."

"Crolle" is the correct identification of the above pattern according to my sources.

Roy,

Not to be difficult. But take a look at the article. At the bottom of the 1st page (p25) it states that is a shortened translation of about 1/3 of Le Damas. I have both.

Pete, I said the article in the American Rifleman was reduced by 1/3 in my initial post. Having lived in the vicinity of Liege for a year, those seriously interested in the manufactuing methods used to produce damascus should arrange to visit the museum.[BUT FIRST CHECK THAT IT WILL BE OPEN BECAUSE LIEGE HAS/HAD FINANCIAL PROBLEMS.] I am sure that visitors will be surprised at the size of the billet bundles and the rolling mill used to produce the various types of damascus.Roy
