I've dealt with Mr.Gemes several times and would like to comment. Besides doing excellent work in the agreed timeframe, he's notable for something else ... his business ethic.
I once stocked a SxS with exhibition English and a splinter forend. After awhile, I thought I'd like a semi-beavertail. There's not much wood in a splinter to give an idea of the color and figure, so I sent the butt stock to Mr. Gemes and asked that he make me a semi-inlet beavertail to match. After awhile, he informed me that the butt had gotten scratched while in his shop and he offered to repair it if I wanted him to. Since I did my own finishing I said I'd take care of it. Shortly, I got everything back...my butt stock with a minor scratch, a gorgeous matching forend worth a couple hundred bucks, and an invoice that said "no charge."
That spoke volumes about Mr.Gemes' integrity. His offer was over the top. I insisted on paying him for the wood and accepted his free labor as a gesture of good will. Stuff happens. When you find a business that deals with "stuff" in this fashion, you go back.
