I have a C.G Bonehill hammergun. It has Birmingham black powder proofs, rebounding locks,30" bbls choked F & I.c,,POW stock, barrels are marked "Laminated steel"engraving coverage is about 75%.This gun bears a VERY strong resemblance to 2 Midland hammer guns I own.The only difference is both my Midlands have a Greener style 3rd fastener and the bonehill doesnt.I wonder if this isnt a Midland gun retailed by Bonehill.Any thoughts?

even though anything is possible this is not likely. Both companies had large factories and supplied all sorts of guns to the world. Your Midland guns will bear a strong resemblance to many of the Birmingham hammer guns

Bonehill was a large manufacturer. It would have been built in his Belmont Gun Works.

Thank you both very much.By the way MR Hadoke, your 100% alcohol did a great job of cleaning the dirt and grease out of the wood on this gun.

It is good stuff - just used it with a cloth and cotton buds to clean the old hardened on oil from an Alex Henry .500 BPE falling block rifle. The nice thing is that it takes off the crud without being to aggressive. Glad it worked for you. Sorts out yur blisters too, just don't use it to mix a Tom Collins!

"Bonehill". It's one of the coolest gun maker names out there :-) I always wanted one, just for the name.

Bonehill sold quite a few of his hammer guns to Winchester who then put their name on them. Lagopus.....

That may only be funny to those who have watched Beavis and Butthead. Personally I am a much bigger fan of his follow-up, King of the Hill.
