I hope so Roy. Dig I agree on the lining points. I hope I have enough to play with but my barrel man is positive. Will know within the next two weeks! Out of interest were the island lock guns an early design or just one of the purdey designs of the period? T

Nice one Tony, will be a beauty when finished. Barrels with lesser walls have sailed through reproof.

A little rougher around the edges than some of your projects, but oh,does it have potential. Hope you have good news from your barrel man. Best of luck with another great project!

Tony, Island locks were a feature peculiar to Purdey. I'm ill so I won't see you tomorrow - shoot well.

Tony, I think you made a GREAT choice. I love Purdeys. I am doing one right now. New stock, barrels redone and just had Toby do the hammers. He did a great job on the hammers too. I know you are going to do a great job on this very nice Purdey. Can't wait. Frank

Tony ,Island locks would seem to have originated in France. They were a feature of Lefaucheux guns patented in 1834.They were also seen on early breech loaders by Schneider and Bastin, both French Gunmakers.Look forward to seeing the Purdey when restoration is complete.

Gun has flown through proof from barrels cleaned up and a few minor dents taken out, chambered to 70mm and proofed in 4 days. So good of the guys all round to rush it through for me. I took it to my stocker immediately who grumpily said he would do it for me. Island locks...yuk! Lol.
Should have it done by my boxing day shoot. Found a lovely piece of walnut with him. Excited.
