I have a nicely redone field grade ejector 16, has fired on me a couple times upon closing (R barrel only). I can't get the right hammer to trip on closing with either snap caps or fired shells in the gun, so I'm not sure what's going on (other than that it's not good news). Front trigger pull is pretty light, and I'd suspect maybe a problem with the sear if the hammer dropped on closing with either snap caps or fired shells. Anyhow, looking for someone who does good work on Elsies.

LB,
Sounds pretty straight forward on the surface. A quick check would be to pull the locks and examine the sears/hammer notches, maybe clamp them in a vise with wood and trip the hammers against a wood block to check the pull required on left vs right lock. Maybe it's all in the lock. First place I'd look anyway.

I'll second the recommendation on FUCHS. Several of my friends have had him repair/refinish SxS's, and all are pleased. He has an excellent repuation.

Best informed guesstimate from available information is the sear/hammer interface. Most probably it is rounded off and needs to be "sharpened up". Point to remember, rounded engagement interfaces give "lighter" triggers, sharp edges/angles give "heavier" pull. I'd get some, or grind some, appropriate screw drivers, then as Chuck Hagel suggested, pull the locks and have a looksie. Sweet Elsies need lots of TLC and are very fond of attention. Best, Dr. BILL
