Found a nice Stevens 311 at an estate sale.Wood will be redone.Blue and case excellent.The underside of the barrels and receiver have small white paint dots,probably paint roller mist.What is the best way to remove the specks and not compromise the blue and case?Thanks in advance,Retiredreb

If it's latex paint (most likely) it would probably come off if rubbed with a water dampened sponge pad. If oil base a little gun oil and 0000 steel wool should remove it.

Try a product called Goof off it is alcholol based nad will work for what you are needing it for.

I'd try an old 'wheat penney's edge' [solid copper] with a bit of 'Formula 3' made by Kleanbore in Ft. Worth, TX. It will NOT harm the bluing as it is actually a harder finish than the copper.
