Does anyone know where a guy could get a set of 12 ga Model 23 barrels? I have looked lots of places with no luck. I have in my possession Dad's old gun. Dad was a very poor shot so he had the barrels on his gun sawed off and they are cylinder/cylinder, 24 inches.....he thought that would help his shooting...it didn't and the gun is worthless to me as is. I get it out every now and then wipe a little oil on it and reminisce of days afield with my Dad. I would like to get a longer set of barrels somewhere. Thanks. Buzz

That may be hard to fine. You might have the barrels fitted with a set of extended (2" or 4") thin wall choke tubes (the permanent type).

It's tough to find model complete model 23s! They were sub contracted Spanish guns IIRC. Even if you do find a set, it might cost more than the gun is worth. I have some of the same issues with my Dad's guns I inherited-Dad was a crummy shotgunner, likely the result of his qualifications as a sniper, and instructor for same. He tried lots of different things, porting, weird sights and other choke modifications to try to improve his score. I try to view the guns as his learning curve, and leave them as is. Someday my son can try them, sans the red glowing fiber optics, which, didn't cost anything to remove, and he can use them, if he likes. Good luck, anyway.
Best, Ted

23s were Japanese made. They are a pretty good shotgun, kinda "robust" like earlier American shotguns, not lightweight like English guns.

buzz - it might be worth sending an Email to Midwest Gunworks - a few years back they had some Model 23 Parts. http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwiTed you are thinking of the Model 22 Winchester made by Laurona.

I knew it, but, forgot the sequence. Thanks for setting me straight, Gene. Yea, Don, when I post something near my heart about my late Dad, I'm just a jerk...

Thanks for the advice guys. I figured it was going to be rough finding a set of barrels for this thing. Really I doubt if I would even use the gun if I did find a set of barrels for it. 23's are good solid guns, but I'm not that fond of them. Kind of clunky. I've thought about putting choke tubes in it and use it for turkey....it would be good for that if both barrels shoot true. Thanks again, Buzz
