Townsend Whelen Bowling who is TW's Grandson has been working on collecting ALL the writings of Townsend Whelen. This is a major undertaking and will take years.

Through Townsend Bowlings generosity and with his permission, I'm going to post a few pictures that I think might interest the folks who visit here.

Ft. Benning house circa 1925.

I ask that you not re-post these anywhere.

Looks like a great place to spend some time. I wish I had a place like that, furnished and equipped like that.

I count 15 rifles in those photos. I wonder, did he live there alone?

Name that gun...

I will do the easy ones. The horizontal rack about the book cases... The bottom one is a mystery gun in a case, the next one up a Winchester Single Shot and above that a Winchester 95.

What a library the man had!

I think his family was in DC when he was at Benning.

It the top right hand corner of the last pictures is a seldom seen Remington No.7. I remember a No.7 leaning against a shelter in one of his books.

Isn't there a picture out there of TW sitting in a chair reading? I believe I have seen it somewhere. If I am right and it can be found then it would be interesting if it was taken in the room pictured.

The High-Wall is 'Salina".

I have an advantage because I have the high resolution photos.

What is a Highwall "Salina"? Never heard of the moniker applied to a Highwall.
