I'm ready to start loading up some stuff to take to the Southern next month, and was looking through my notes in my loading manual this afternoon. I found a load I had written down all the info on except the pressure. It is a load recommended by Sherman Bell, and I'm sure I must have used it in the past with good results.
It calls for: Federal paper case W209 primer 25 gr. SR7625 R12L wad (or equivalent such as a CB1100-12) 1 oz. shot
I'm certain this is a low pressure load, but just how low, and what is the velocity?
If anyone has this load in their data base I'd sure appreciate the missing info on it. No guesses, please. I can guess, but don't really want to.
Thanks in advance.

In handloader magazine, Tom Roster used 24 gr. 7625 with Fed paper champions and 1 oz to get a vel of 1140 ft/sec and 4400 psi Sherman Bell in DGJ Summer 2002 used 25 gr. with 1 1/8 oz for 1114 ft/sec and 4700si

Leighton, was that with the R12L wad? I had another load just like it with a Federal 12C1, and another with the Federal 12S3, but have a lot of the CB1100-12 wads I would like to use.
It probably doesn't matter a lot, with the Federal paper cases, about the wad, but I'd just like to know for sure.
Wonder how long it would take to send 5 loads to Armbrust and get the data back?

S. Bell used the Federal 12C1 Wad, but I use the Pink Claybuster Wad in my Fed. Papers and I dont think it makes much difference as the pressures are still under 5000psi. The 1990 Dupont Guide shows 24.5 7625 and the Fed wad at 1150 ft/sec and 4700 psi and with 26 gr. 7625 and the REM WAD 1145 ft/sec and 4200 psi.
25.5 gr. 7625 with the FED WAD ONLY GAVE 5100 PSI.

Thanks, Leighton. I looked up Bell's articles in Summer and Winter '99, DGJ, and reread them. Doesn't look like the wad matters much in the Fed. papers, as you said. Only a few hundred psi either way.
Still shooting the Cashmore pigeon gun?
All my best, Stan
