GGCA member Baumgarten was kind enough to forward these images to me of a 1919 Franz Neuber & Sohn. Wiener Neustadt is about 50 miles from Vienna and it may be that Franz Neuber added "& Sohn" at the turn of the 20th century. Franz Neuber had several patents and had some joint ones with Josef Tambour and Karl Colbert.

This cape longarm made the preliminary pass thru the Suhl proofhouse and then the final pass in 1919 thru the Vienna facility. It appears that Franz Neuber heavily sourced Suhl for tubes and longarms in the white. The set of unique "S" is seen on early tubes as well as post WWI yet listings from the mid 19th century do not list a SS maker but post WWI gives a Sylvestr Schilling with similar initials. So it may be that there were a couple generations of Sylvestr Schilling, or craftsmen with similar initials. There's a Fraktur/Gothic letter near the "Crown" over "G" but I can't make it our for now. On some examples Franz Neuber used the Rigby style forend lever( British patent no. 1793 of 1866 - Charles Harvey ). "3284" just may be Franz Neuber's serial number range.

Kind Regards,
