Here are some photos of the newly found 10 bore that is actually a P 17 not a V series: Additional info: It is in 99% condition. The barrel lengths are 68 cm. DAC is 1.5" DAH is 2.625" 70 mm chambers Trois Palmes proofing Right barrel marked Sans Soudure which owner assumes means no choke. (Sans soudure is "no solder", maybe Ted can shed some light on this) The left barrel is choked but he has not yet been able to determine the actual choke. Bores are marked as 19.2 mm Mid 20's serial # purchased new in 1930 Apparently built in 1926 Very nice!!! JC (acting as picture poster)

Jay Cee, There is a bit of a "horsefly in the yogurt" in referring to either of these guns as a P17. A true P gun has a hinged opening lever, with a clearly visible split about 3/8ths of an inch up from where it begins at the bottom of the sliding breech. Neither of these guns exhibit that detail. I suspect, but, can't prove from here, full on custom V grades, decorated at the 17 level. Thanks for the photos-I seldom stumble on to Darne guns in this level of condition. "Sans Solder", in this case, refers to a barrel built without brazing, which, was considered to be hot enough to affect the structural integrity of the steel-it is a snap to build a true monobloc gun using only silver solder.
Best, Ted

Hi Ted,
Thanks for the info on "Sans Soudure".
I am just the poster of second hand information and my knowledge of Darnes is very precarious. All I could say is that they are V series and that they are very, very nice. Apart from that...

JC,
Would like to see pix of the proof marks on the barrel and action flats if the owner is willing to send them to you to post.
Regards, Tim

Looks to be proofed for powder T prior to 1923. I can't tell from any of the photos if it is a monobloc or not! 19.2 is ten gauge bore, real as a heart attack. What an awesome piece for putting 1 1/4 oz of hard 5s on a scampering rooster at 35-40 yards or so. Wish it fit me. Wish I owned it, if that were the case.
Best, Ted
