I am British. English actually, the term comes from our driving (Equestrian) we drive on the left side of the road. So the the right side is the 'off' side and the left side is the 'on' side meaning on the kerb / footpath / boardwalk.

Dang, I KNEW there was a better reason than "freedom" to run those guys out! Horses are dangerous enough on the "correct" (that is to say, "right") side of the road!

(Kidding....I actually quite like the English, now that I've met a few. Spent the whole summer of 1968 hitchhiking around the British Isles and never found anyone who actually admitted to being English. Cornish, Manx, Irish, Scots, Welsh, Maltese, Geordies, but no English. Too polite to brag on it, I suspect.)

Sorry - I was referring to the light switch analogy - we British or English all know that proper light switches are down for on - I am surprised that the rest of the world doesn’t know this???? While we are on the subject it would make it much simpler to explain the cast on the gun if the rest of the world drove on the left - excellent reason for them to conform???

Now we are getting complicated!! Perhaps they are the type of switches installed in houses where the owner has a cross over stock or for someone who can shoot off either shoulder???

There are 3way switches and 4way switches, in fact you can have as many as you want on one light. they can all be on when up or off when up depends on which switch was switched last which designates which switch was switched off last which would determine which one was on when the switche was turned off. Have a great weekend. Rich

I have a pull switch in the bath room (we have inside toilets in England now!) - but I don't have a pump shotgun so perhaps we should call a truce on this line as I don't think we are adding anything to the original question - except confusion.
Cheers
John
