The forend on my RBL is not as snug as I'd like. Any hints on tightening it? I think the spring isn't as strong as it could be, but I don't know how to replace it.

Wouldn't it make more sense to contact the maker?

Yes, if I can't do it myself. It's getting on dove season, and I don't want to send the thing off unless I have to. I was hoping it was something simple. It's not a serious problem, but an annoyance.

I'll do that! Not too many real birds around here, unfortunately. Fire ants and depradation has sent them to the happy roost in the sky.

Sounds like a couple trips to Texas, Oklahoma or Kansas are in order.

Hello all,
OK, here is a simple method for short or long term, and yes, you should not have to do this for a gun of this cost, butttttttt:
Under the barrels (both barrels) above and behind the front edge of the forend, put a small 3/4inch or inch square of masking tape, where it will not be seen with the forend on. Put the forend on, still loose? Remove forend, Place another square on top of the first square, put the forend on, continue till the forend is just snug. Hunt/clays and then decide what to do in the Spring.
Let us know how this works for you. Mike

Genelang: Skeettx has a viable idea. I'd try that first. Then I'd send the RBL back, ask for a refund, and invest your money in a gun that was responsibly made from the start. Like a classic British gun.
The pathetic nature of CSMC products and services are manifold on this site. You are the buyer. And 'twas your responsibility to beware. Still, I commiserate.
Best, Kensal

It's a good gun, just not a perfect gun. If a spring is the answer, and I think it is, it seems a small price for a good gun (otherwise.) I'll send it back after Jan 1.
I have not owned a British gun, but from what I've heard, I wouldn't mind. However, I think they're over priced for what you get, and the RBL is what I have and have to live with it.

P.S. The tape thing doesn't work. It's a question of horizontal pressure on the lug, not vertical. It's going back to Galzan after the season and hunting planted quail in S. GA.
I like the RBL. I got it at a very good price. It's the Launh Edition, and loaded just the way I like it. Points well and is lightweight. Nice-enough wood, but not spectacular, a bit above a "working class" shotgun, but not ostentaious. I've had it a few years now and this just became a problem. Why, I don't know.
