Being proofed in January of 1932 it fits in the time frame of the early 1930s when Remo Gewehrfabrik/Gebruder Rempt(Walter Rempt) was producing 2 shot bolt action shotguns based on the Mauser Gewehr 98. I think the Model 71 was one of the first used to make the shotguns. GEHA also comes to mind and this one looks to be some variant thereof. Is yours a single shot only? The tube is choked and has a 65mm chamber unless stamped otherwise somewhere else. Your email doesn't appear to be in your profile.

I think Remo, who was a subcontractor to Zeiss?, had a Model 129 that was a single shot. Some bolt shotguns were conversions and some weren't true conversions. I think Rheinmetall( Heinrich Ehrhardt), GECO and maybe Recknagle to have been involved at some level. I'd check A.F. Stoeger catalogues as well as GECO catalogues from the 1920s and 1930s. Cornell Pub. might just have one forsale. On the conversions I wouldn't be suprised to see some Belgian makers marks since FN was a contractor.

I failed to include Romerwerke in the list, which was founded by Hans Romer to make his pistol. Romerwerke manufactured price-point weapons during the 1920s and 1930s and manufactured some odd examples for sure.

I glance at it and it looks like a "Crown" over a gothic "G", an inspector's mark which was probably from the Potsdam arsenal.

I was trying to find a baseline for serial number/date for Gebrüder Rempt examples and found Walter Rempt's U.S. patent(1589764) for the bolt shotgun: http://www.google.com/patents?id=MrxlAAA...p;q&f=falseKind Regards, Raimey rse
