I stopped at a pawn shop saturday and, from a pile of a couple of hundred(no exaggeration)shotguns bought what I assumed was a Crescent.I got it home and started to pull it apart and clean it and was surprised to under a LOT of dirt and grease a pretty decent shotgun.12 gauge hammerless double trigger sidelock,23\4" chambers,32" damascus bbls -not twist or scelp-mirror bores, pretty well done engraving on the locks and action (pigeon on the bottom of the action), pistol grip stock (capped),horn forend tip .I removed the locks and to my great surprise the locks are nicely finished inside! Better than my field grade LC Smith and as good as my Reilly hammer gun!!(not a best grade Reilly) heavy gun-9lb 6oz.The only markings on the gun are the serial # on all parts,"AHE" on the bbls-I have seen that before on quite a few Belgian damascus bbls, and "Montgomery Ward & CO" on the rib. Times like this I miss the Klunkermeister! No proof marks,no nothing. Its tight and on the face,I shot it Sunday with vintagers, works fine.Any ideas?

Baker made a 32" double for Montgomery Wards. I have two that I bought for a project pair of heavy waterfowlers. Certain to get done if I live another 60 years. Post a picture of the locks if you can.

Thank you! I never thought of a Baker.I will look at my one and only Baker and see if the lockplates look the same.I am pretty computer illiterate and dont own a digital camera. I will try and get my shooting buddy to take some pics and post them.

Yep,Baker almost certainly.I got the Baker out of the safe and the locks and action appear almost identical.I took this thing for a heavy waterfowl gun-32" and choked full & fuller,I wonder why the pigeon on the bottom of the action? Well,I am pleased, it was a better spent hundred dollars than I thought.Drew I just saw your reply,Thank you! That picture is certainly a match.Same engraving pattern exactly.Does your gun have a pigeon on it too?

The pair that I have are excellent for a heavy water fowl gun or a sporting clays gun. Beware they are choked tight and rifle slug tight if the one you have is like mine. Mine were in the .050 constriction range. Barrel walls are thick as heck. You could install screw in chokes in it and have one heck of a nice sporting clays gun. If we had a proof house in this country I would try to get it proofed for 3" shells. The chamber area is just as stout as the rest of the barrels. Be a perfect goose gun with Bismuth shot.
