If you guys use a KICKEEZ pad to make a leather covered pad and you want to make the screw holes bigger, how do you bore out the holes in order to use larger plugs instead of the little ones that come with the KICKEEZ pads? Thanks again.

Jimmy: You can use a diamond burr (probably 1/2") or if you have machine skills, can turn a pair of cutters, one for the pad and one for the plug, one tapers to the inside and one to the outside.

What is a diamond burr? I have never heard of that. Right now I am using a piece of copper tubing and pressing it in a vise. But it doesn't work real well. I would like to come up with a better way. I thought of trying a plug cutter that they use in woodworking. How about that? Thanks

I haven't tried it, but I wonder if putting the pad in the freezer for a few hours would make the holes drill/cut cleaner?

A diamond burr is a rotary tool that is used in a high speed, die grinder. The 1/2" ones would normally come with a 1/4" shaft and have a head that could be conical, barrel, torpedo, or football shaped. They can be used in a 1/4" electric drill, but most craftsmen prefer the high speed die grinders with adjustable speeds for different materials.

I have been using a thin wall piece of brass tube of the proper size. I put in a drill press and sharpen it with a file, polish it and then feed it into the pad. I cuts a clean hole ,if you are going through the black plastic, I cut it first with a forsner bit and then use the tube to cut the hole with a piece of soft wood under the pad.
