From http://www.tf.uni-kiel.de/matwis/amat/def_en/articles/very_british/body_part1_damascene.html
"In the 1950's a gunsmith in England produced a shotgun barrel for Queen Elizabeth's husband which read Prince Phillip, Prince Phillip, Prince Phillip, in spirals all the way down the barrel."

In the 50s?!? Can anyone confirm this?

We know the technology existed in Belgium. This c. 1898 Presentation Grade Remington 1894 from Tim S

Colt: An American Legend by RL Wilson shows the "Capt. D.H. Ross" 1883 hammerless with "COLT" within the damascus pattern.

BTW: Both the 'Prince Albert' and the 'Zenobe Gramme' barrels are shown in Jean Puraye's April & May 1976 American Rifleman articles "Making Damascus Barrels"

Several years ago, I remember reading an article with photos showing initials and/or names as part of the repeated damascus barrel pattern. I did save the article and have it buried in my 'good stuff drawer'. If I can locate the article, I'll attempt to post it.
