Last week, Bill Murphy and I visited Ken Hurst (kenhurst@suddenlink.net)to see the engraving progress on my Fox Sterlingworth ejector project, which is being built as a contemporary side by side clay target gun. The design motif is Art Deco. Ken never fails to deliver more than expected.
The receiver sculpting is by Anthony Patti and Dan Rossiter of PGS--http://pgsguns.com/. They also did the major stock work. It’s been a great adventure working with all these guys. We plan to have the gun ready for the Southern Side by Side in April. I’ll be writing an article about the experience.

How in the hell does he do such good work with such dirty glasses? This is a very unique design. I look forward to the finished gun.

I had to lol at that one Bill G!

Another example of the excellent work I've seen of Ken's work posted on this site!

What a neat style of engraveing. Are you going to have it color case hardened? That style of engraveing is unique and executed perfectly. The whole thing is a canvis and Mr. Hurst is a painter of the highest caliber.

Please post more pictures as it gets finished.

Regards, Gordon

Someone please tell my friend, Berle, how to size his pictures so we can see the whole post without scrolling side to side. I can't help him, unfortunately. Thanks.

I chose the Art Deco motif and provided Ken with about 100 images. We worked together to choose which designs would be most appropriate for the various canvas areas of the gun. Ken's interpretations of the designs are masterful. It will be case hardened and Ken will use a technique he perfected to give it a French gray surface.

As you know, Bill, no one has ever accused me of being a computer wiz. I think I've figured out how to do what you've suggested. Hopefully, I'll get it right next time.

The pics are stored on tinypic.com. It's never too late to go there and resize them to "message board" size or, at most, "15 inch screen" size. They should never be >800 pixels in the largest dimension.

Beautifully executed as usual, Mr.Ken. I just wish it were on a Parker and not a Fox.
