In credible, after all these years. The warning on the side seems to be meant for Europe. I would think they would list SAAMI PSI for the American market.

I'd like to find out what the SAMMI limit is. Anyone know of a conversion?

Bar * 14.5 = PSI
2,200 * 14.5 = 31,900 psi
http://wiki.xtronics.com/index.php/Pressure_Conversion_Table

IMR Loading data
Trapdoor
15,000 - 23,000 CUP

lever gun
19,000- 33,000 CUP

rifle
25,000-37,000 CUP

I shoot the 45-70 in a variety of guns. I would not load that gun to the max pressures. It would simply have too much kick for me. I have found a 400gr at 1,600 FPS about 18,000 CUP just fine. It has taken every deer and boar it hit.

I use the 300 Barnes x 45/70 version. Have taken several elk and a moose with it at about 1600 fps...works great..Guess I better get one of those SPR 22's...Put express sights on it, restock it, and I'll have an SPR22! Oh Yeah, above out of a Sharps..

There's no direct conversion.

This gun is proved to CIP standards for a max operating pressure of 2,200 BAR/31,900 PSI, and is so marked. SAAMI standard max operating pressure is 28,000 PSI. Both standards represent piezo electric transducer chamber pressure, but are not directly convertible, because the methodology and transducer placement protocol are NOT the same. CIP uses a drilled case, while SAAMI does not - which will usually result in a higher CIP value. Remington is clearly aware that the marking on the rifle might lead some to assume that it's appropriate for higher than SAAMI-standard pressure loads, which is not the case. Their web site clearly states that the rifle is appropriate only for standard SAAMI (28,000 PSI) loads, and they're right - that's essentially what the rifle is proved for. No Garrett, Buffalo Bore, etc.

What would the off the shelf price be for the spr in 45/70 and do they give the twist rate of the barrels?. As an aside, I looked and see that the remington 40x single shot is no longer listed. Is this a custom shop item. Thanks Frank

They sell on Gunbroker.com for about 4900-$1000. I don't know the twist rate.
