I'd like to find out what the SAMMI limit is. Anyone know of a conversion?
There's no direct conversion.
This gun is proved to CIP standards for a max operating pressure of 2,200 BAR/31,900 PSI, and is so marked. SAAMI standard max operating pressure is 28,000 PSI. Both standards represent piezo electric transducer chamber pressure, but are not directly convertible, because the methodology and transducer placement protocol are NOT the same. CIP uses a drilled case, while SAAMI does not - which will usually result in a higher CIP value. Remington is clearly aware that the marking on the rifle might lead some to assume that it's appropriate for higher than SAAMI-standard pressure loads, which is not the case. Their web site clearly states that the rifle is appropriate only for standard SAAMI (28,000 PSI) loads, and they're right - that's essentially what the rifle is proved for. No Garrett, Buffalo Bore, etc.
