I have no idea,...as I understand it it was one of the first successful hammerless actions of the time,..maybe someone can jump in here and tell us

Joe the lockwork is almost identical to the one on my A&Navy

Very interesting indeed! You might have better luck asking for information on http://www.internetgunclub.com C. J. Its strikingly similar to a Charles Lancaster "Wristbreaker", is it not? Maybe both were forged by Scott or some other mass trade producer?

No, its nothing at all like a CL "Wristbreaker", the only similarity would be they are both back action guns, thats about it.

CJ's gun was most definatley made by Scott. Maybe finished by Coggie, but more than likely....came out of the Scott factory either completely finished or a working gun in the white just needing engraving. They did the same for E.M. Reilly, H&H (Climax), Coggies (Victor), Gye & Moncrief, and a myriad of other makers on the Isle.
