That's a beaut. I really like the straight stock. I ordered the straight stock also, but with a btfe, and single trigger.

Somebody gave me a new receipe, so I whipped up four boxes of lite 11/16 oz. 20's yesterday. What a sweet, soft shooting target crusher. The gun shipped with SKEET and IC chokes installed. (They were a BITCH to remove at the end of the day. Not sure about that notchless choke tube design.) A recoil pad would have helped with grip, but I still managed to break a decent 97x100 on skeet targets shooting wimpy loads thru a brand new 6 lb., double triggered SxS on a cold, dreary day. I'm satisfied. With that load I could have easily put another 100 shells through it without a problem. I may have to do that today!

make sure you grease the choke tubes up before you use it again and let us know if there's still a problem. I use a general purpose synthetic auto chassis grease, but there are special greases that claim all kinds of things also. But you knew that anyway.

Mark, gorgeous gun. I got the same thing coming only with the 3X walnut. Thanks for the heads-up on the choke tubes. I'll remove them right away and make sure they are properly lubed before I shoot the thing.

In the booklet CSMC recommends we oil the barrel threads and choke tubes, so I assumed it had been done before shipping. I finally got 'em out after putting 100 shells thru it, and they sure seemed dry to me. I've got some SuperLube Teflon syn grease on them now. If that doesn't do it, maybe some anti-sieze stuff. After that, maybe machine some notches and get a different tool.

Those who longed for fixed chokes may have gotten their wish.

OK, just got home from putting another four boxes of those wimp loads thru it. (Lordy, this is one sweet shooter! )

Removal of the chokes was easier, but still not as I'd hoped. You certainly can't over tighten them only because the friction fit tool just won't bite that much. Consequently, it slips far too easily when trying to turn 'em out. I still had to seat the choke wrench with a pretty solid hammer tap (not as hard as the first time though), and that makes me uncomfortable.

I'm not ready to cut notches (yet), but I won't rule it out either.

I haven't taken the time to research, but I wonder if there is a 20 gauge speed wrench available. I have had one for 15-20 years that I use for 12 comp guns. It inserts into the barrel and a knurled knob on top tightens up a large rubber mandrel in the bore. It locks very tightly and will insert or remove any choke tube I have ever tried it on. I went to it due to having so many different bore sizes on competition guns. It works perfectly and doesn't need a notch to work. If they are made in 20 guage, I plan on buying one when my RBL arrives (hopefully in the next few weeks). It would work much better than any kind of push in friction fit.

Got curious and looked. Go to http://www.choketube.com/, click on wrenches in the left column, and you will see a 20 guage wrench for $17.95. This isn't the brand I have, but it is the type I use, and works great. This is what I am going to get for my RBL. Once you use a wrench of this type, you won't use anything else. No more pushing to seat or having to go slow to keep the teeth engaged in the notches.
